The Team

Liza Raby - Director

I qualified in 1986. My training started at West Ham College East London, where I completed my City and Guilds qualification. I worked in Stratford, East London, for 4 years then went on to work in Brentwood Essex, where I managed a salon for many years. Since leaving Essex I have been self employed in salon. I opened Spencer”s Hair salon in March 2008. In my hairdressing career I have completed many courses including Wella colour workshops in London studio, Hair extensions, ear piercing, eyelash extensions and Turkish hot towel shaves and Intimate waxing for male and females.

I have been in the finals of Britains best wet shave barber for the last 4 years. Winning my region yet again then reaching the finals. The finals were held at the NEC and unfortunately I was knocked out by the  winner in the semi finals. Being the only woman to take part in the finals makes me Britains best wet shave barber!

Completed my NVQ level 3 in hairdressing, level 3 barbering and my A1 assessors award. This enables me to assess students at college and in the work place.

I recently featured on The One Show on The One Big Thank You for our fundraising which is well over £170,000, we are so very grateful for all our clients support over the past 16 years of fundraising.

Hannah Lowndes - Director

I have been Hairdressing for 30 years. I started my journey as a Saturday girl, which led to an apprenticeship within a chain of salons, called Designer Group.
I worked with them for many years to grow my skills and knowledge.

I had a year out in 2003 when I travelled round Australia, still with my trusty scissors by my side.
When I returned I got a job in a local salon and went back to college to further my skills and gain my level 3 qualification.

In 2009 I decided to move into the teaching side, which is where I met Liza, and took a lecturer position at Peterborough college, here I gained my teaching qualifications and yet more valuable experience.

This experience led me back out into salons to teach apprenticeships in both hairdressing and barbering up to a level 3 standard.

For 3 years I taught as a technical educator for L’Oréal Professional, and then a further 2 years as a freelance educator, teaching in salons and in their London based academy. I have gained some valuable knowledge and skills, such as being a L’Oreal Colour Specialist in the salon.

Claire Holmes - Senior Designer

I have been working at LH Design since it opened in 2018. I have previously worked here for 20 years when it was Jaynes Hair Salon, so I am definately part of the furniture now!

I enjoy all aspects of Hairdressing, and love that I am continually learning new skills on a daily basis within the working enviroment.

I am currently working part time and I am in salon Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Katie Peeling - Young Designer

I am young designer at LH Hair Design and work full time in the salon. I qualified in 2020.
